100th anniversary of san gennaro at the untitled hotel
a photo diary from our stay at the lovely untitled in freeman alley’s for the 100th anniversary of the san gennaro feast in september, 2026.
staying in the heart of the lower east side was a dream, but staying in the art was a whole other level.
Freeman’s alley, a former coffin factory and a back entrance to the Bowery Mission, is now an ever-evoling art gallery and graffiti alleyway.
every time I walked through the alley, someone was spray painting in the alley. and the art didn’t stop in the alley: every time I entered the lobby, someone was playing piano or a makeup artist doing a hotel guest’s makeup in the lounge.
this sketchbook was full of art from hundreds of previous guests who stayed at untitled.
the garden felt like a secret. guests read, drew in their sketchbooks, and played more music.
I got to watch ginger winn and paul costabile rehearse for their performance at san gennaro in the garden.
and then we headed to san gennaro on mulberry street!
the art of keeping good company is a tender thing.
keep good company records curated the stage at the san gennaro feast: we heard sets from dominic chianese, sal valentinetti, ginger winn, christian sparacio, chase manhattan, and many special guests.
san gennaro is the first time sal valentinetti played some songs off his first original album, string theory, set to release on november 20.
we were near the headquarters, so we obviously had to stop at glossier in the lower east side. i don’t make the rules.
the stickers i made for the festival. we left them all over telephone poles and throughout freeman’s alley. in order to keep good company, you have to be good company.
